Policymaking

You'll see us at the MN State Capitol every year advocating for issues important to our Sisterhood. In the past, we've passed bills supporting survivors of sexual violence, bringing income support to low income families, and more.

2026 Muslim Women’s Day at the Capitol

The Sisterhood hosted our annual Muslim Women’s Day at the Minnesota State Capitol on March 24th! In 2026, we are showing up to gather our powerful collective of sisters who want to make our state a better place. We are working on repealing anti-boycott laws, civil protections against federal agents, the STAR Act, and a bill supporting rental assistance for our most vulnerable communities. Keep reading to learn more about our policy agenda, and make sure to join us on March 24, 2026 to advocate for our shared policy priorities!

2026 Legislative Update

As the 2026 legislative session closes, several bills advancing equity, civil rights, and protections for Minnesotan communities did not pass. Still, community members showed up powerfully to organize, testify, and advocate for change. The work does not stop here. Stay engaged, hold elected officials accountable, and continue showing up in your communities and at the ballot box.
